14th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario
December 30, 1926 to October 25, 1932
Born in 1869 in Bras d’Or, Nova Scotia, William Donald Ross worked with the Bank of Nova Scotia and rose to become Director. He later became General Manager of the Metropolitan Bank of Toronto. Ross served as Lieutenant Governor from 1926 to 1932, giving time, effort, and resources to maintain the dignity of the office during the Great Depression. He died in Toronto in 1947.
