Her Honour the Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will recognize Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by hosting a celebratory garden party at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto. The event will also recognize the ongoing service of Ontarians, by presenting six individuals from across the province with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.
In 2022, Canadians will join other Commonwealth countries in celebrating the platinum jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, marking her 70th anniversary on the throne. This year marks an historic occasion to celebrate and pay tribute to Canada’s longest-reigning sovereign and the first to celebrate a platinum jubilee.
“Across Ontario, Canada, and our Commonwealth, people are commemorating a truly historic anniversary, Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
This garden party is an occasion to honour Her Majesty’s seventy years of service and steadfast devotion to the people of Canada. It is my hope that it will be an occasion for Ontarians to come together in celebration of our history and look towards the future with the same indomitable spirit and unwavering courage that has characterized Her Majesty’s reign.”
—The Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell
