The Lieutenant Governor attended the 16th Lafontaine-Baldwin Lecture as part of 6 Degrees Toronto and offered welcoming remarks at the pre-lecture reception.
Beginning in 2000, the Lafontaine-Baldwin Lecture has aimed to encourage Canadians to reflect on themes of democracy, citizenship, and the public good. This year’s speaker was Sue Gardner – a leader in digital thinking. Ms Gardner played a role in the growth of Wikipedia, and was head of cbc.ca. The theme of her lecture was “Taking back truth, freedom, and technology”.
