The Lieutenant Governor acted as Reviewing Officer of the Queen’s York Rangers Change of Command Ceremony at the Fort York Armoury in Toronto. The Lieutenant Governor is Colonel of the Regiment. This position is held in perpetuity by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and recognizes the historical connection of the Regiment to the office and the province. The first Lieutenant Governor of Ontario was Lieutenant General John Graves Simcoe, a Commanding Officer of the Rangers in the American Revolutionary War (1776-1783).
The Regiment is a part of 32 Canadian Brigade Group, the Army Reserve formation in the Greater Toronto Area. Regimental Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron along with an Assault Troop are based at Fort York Armoury, while A Squadron is based at the Lieutenant General, the Honourable John Graves Simcoe Armoury in Aurora.
