The Lieutenant Governor offered welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony for the 2018 Parliament of the World’s Religions in Toronto.
The Parliament of the World’s Religions aims to cultivate harmony among the world’s religious and spiritual communities. It does this with the goal of achieving a just, peaceful, and sustainable world. This was the 7th Parliament, and was held in Toronto to celebrate the city’s cultural and religious diversity, and commitment to inclusion.
Approx. 5000 conference attendees including government representatives, religious and spiritual leaders, activists, and community members were in attendance.
Pleased to welcome the 7th @InterfaithWorld to #Toronto – a city where nearly every faith is practised. Faith can give us courage & act as a powerful & positive force of change & resilience. Much pride in the co-operation across denominations, sects, parishes, & the wider world. pic.twitter.com/hLdGNZijBH
